Hello and welcome back to Travel Hints for Women Over 60!
Today we’re talking about something every traveler cherishes — preserving those memories so your adventures don’t just live in your camera roll, but in your heart and for everyone else to enjoy too.
Give Your Friends a Heads-Up
Before I even leave on a trip, I like to put up a little “disclaimer” on Facebook and Instagram. I warn my friends: “Post overload incoming!” and advise that if anyone is adverse to multitudes of travel photos, they might want to scroll right past.
Believe it or not, those people exist! Personally, I love seeing other people’s travel photos — they inspire me, give me ideas, and often point me toward spots I might otherwise have missed.

Keep Notes While You Explore
While I’m on tour or wandering around a new city, I always carry a notepad and pen. Whenever I see or hear something interesting — a quirky street, a charming café, or a fascinating legend about a building — I jot it down immediately.
These little notes become gold when I start putting my posts together. They give context, depth, and personality to the photos, so viewers aren’t just seeing pretty images — they’re experiencing a story.
Daily Photo Selection & Storytelling
Every afternoon, usually in the late afternoon, I sit down with my photos and pick out around 10 of my best shots from the day.
Then comes the fun part — I write about 100 words for each photo, describing the scene, telling a legend, or sharing a quirky fact. This small effort makes a huge difference for anyone viewing your posts. Suddenly, it’s not just a travel photo; it’s a story that transports people there with you.
I also take a screenshot of the route travelled that day. It’s a simple visual that adds context and shows the journey, not just the destinations.
Social Media Posting
When I post to my social media accounts, I include:
The date
The day number of the trip
The places visited
I love the feedback I get from friends — comments, questions, and little conversations spark memories and even inspire future trips.
Creating a Photo Book
When I get home, the digital memories easily become a physical keepsake. I copy and paste my posts, photos, and notes into a photo book.
I’ve used a number of photo book printers over the years, and I can particularly recommend Mixbook and Journi. The process is simple, the layouts are beautiful, and the end result is something you and your family can treasure for years to come.

Wrap-Up
Preserving travel memories isn’t just about photos — it’s about stories, experiences, and a little bit of creativity. A few minutes a day while you’re away turns a collection of snapshots into a journey people can share, enjoy, and remember forever.
So grab your notepad, embrace the storytelling, and share your adventures with the world — and yourself. I intend to take my photobooks into the old people's home with me... after I've spent my kids inheritance.
